Welcome to MA Smith Bathrooms & Kitchens

Originally formed as MA Smith Tiling Contractors over 55yrs ago by Michael Smith from Hertfordshire. Back then Michael’s main business was purely ceramic wall and floor tiling.

Sean Kybird joined the company in 1988 and trained under Michael as a ceramic wall and floor tiler. Some 4 years later he was joined by his now brother in-law Neil Smith, who also trained as a wall and floor tiler, both learning new skills as materials developed and demand expanded as they moved along their careers.

MA Smith early years

In its early years, MA Smiths’ main work was with an extremely high standard building contractor from Harpenden in Hertfordshire, with projects ranging from commercial buildings to top of the range executive houses.

Completing wall and floor tiling to such a high standard and with materials changing and tiles growing in size, Sean soon realised that there was an opportunity to take things further. Many contractors will construct a bathroom or kitchen for you to a certain standard and think about the tiling finishes as an afterthought, however, if you reverse this process and know what look you are trying to achieve, then it becomes far easier to create, measure and check things along the way making sure the end product is correct and you achieve the exact finish that your customer desired.

Complete project management

One of the main issues with bathrooms and kitchens is trying to co-ordinate all of the trades to follow along together, not to mention the reliability factor necessary to complete a contract in the time quoted. So with time and training we have put together a family company where all of this can be taken care of in-house. From plastering and plumbing to electricals and more, which means you only have one point of contact for the whole project which in turn means much less stress for you trying.
